GARY C. ECHELMEYER

About Me

With his very sharp and creative vision, Gary has a passion for painting with light. He enjoys the collaboration process with his colleagues on all ends of the personnel spectrum immensely. Whether it's conversing about how to tell a story or drafting the detailed plots for the technical staff to implement designs, Gary is excited about every aspect of the process from start to finish. He has a unique skill set that allows him to be both creatively and logistically minded which aligns with his mission to collaborate with artists on challenging projects of varying scales.

Gary is a freelancer and travels regularly fulfilling all of the roles that fall beneath what he refers to as the lighting umbrella. He has an interest in lighting for many different disciplines including theater, musical theater, opera, dance, special events and has toured in the US, Mexico, Canada, Europe, South Africa and China. With his extensive background and working knowledge in performing arts settings, Gary also frequently takes on other roles beyond the scope of lighting. He collaborates with various organizations as an AV Technical Producer, Production Manager and Show Caller/Stage Manager. Also it's worth noting that he brings a lot of smiles and fun to the workplace!

 

Originally from the Chicagoland area, Gary has previously resided in Brooklyn, NY and Houston, TX and now calls Washington D.C. home. In his free time, he enjoys photography, urban exploration, riding roller coasters, visiting MLB stadiums, traveling, cruising the great seas and craft beer.
